Our mission statement is dedicated to spreading awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the Maltese culture, its people, diversity, and values.
The MACC of Dearborn was established in 1979. Since origination, the club has been a haven connecting people of the same rich cultural values and genes. Upon aquisition, the Oakman building needed extensive work both inside and out. Many club members volunteered to help, bringing skills from all walks of life, to renovate the facility. The hard work continued for a number of years and still takes place today. We are in constant need of helping hands to keep the club running. Please consider getting involved!
From the beginning, the club’s leadership and members have made great efforts to continue Maltese traditions. We pride ourselves on our gatherings such as rabbit dinners, St. Paul's Feast, the Miss. Malta Pageant and other occasions.
Some Maltese-Americans can trace their Metro Detroit roots back to the 1920s. However, in the 60s and 70s, a large influx of Maltese were moving to the suburbs. Many hard-working Maltese people found employment within the industrial and transportation sectors, of course including The Big 3.
By the mid-1990s, more than 70,000 Maltese immigrants and descendants were living in the United States. At that point, the largest single community of Maltese-Americans was found in Detroit and its surrounding areas.
